Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that features a number of conveniences accompanying the casino, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
